Video of the Day: 6/14/08
Video of the Day. (it's a new thing i'm trying)
Today's video is Annaleigh Ashford's role in Sex and the City. She is amazing. Some of you might know her from her role as Glinda in Broadway's Wicked. She was in the New York company, and is currently in the Chicago one. She is an amazing actress...do not judge by this video though. haha.

Shoop
So I had my ipod on shuffle the other day and a song popped up called Shoop. It's by the band Salt 'n Peppa. The song used to be on the radio all the time when I was little. I'd listen to it in the car with my parents. It had a nice beat and all.
So the song pops up and I can't really understand the lyrics and so I look them up and WOW....see for yourself.
Hey, yeah - I wanna shoop, baby
[Oooo, how you doin', baby?
No, not you
You, the bow-legged one, (ha-ha) yeah
What's your name?
Damn, that sounds sexy]
Here I go, here I go, here I go again (again?)
Girls, what's my weakness? (Men!)
Ok then, chillin', chillin', mindin' my business (word)
Yo, Salt, I looked around, and I couldn't believe this
I swear, I stared, my niece my witness
The brother had it goin' on with somethin' kinda...uh
Wicked, wicked (oooo) - had to kick it
I'm not shy so I asked for the digits
A ho? No, that don't make me
See what I want slip slide to it swifty
Felt it in my hips so I dipped back to my bag of tricks
Then I flipped for a tip, make me wanna do tricks for him
Lick him like a lollipop should be licked
Came to my senses and I chilled for a bit
Don't know how you do the voodoo that you do
So well it's a spell, hell, makes me wanna shoop shoop shoop
Shoop shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop ba-doop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop ba-doop ba-doop
Ummm, you're packed and you're stacked 'specially in the back
Brother, wanna thank your mother for a butt like that (thanks, Mom)
Can I get some fries with that shake-shake boobie?
If looks could kill you would be an uzi
You're a shotgun - bang! What's up with that thang?
I wanna know how does it hang?
Straight up, wait up, hold up, Mr. Lover
Like Prince said you're a sexy mutha-
Well-a, I like 'em real wild, b-boy style by the mile
Smooth black skin with a smile
Bright as the sun, I wanna have some fun
Come (come) and (hmmm) give me some of that yum-yum
Chocolate chip, honey dip, can I get a scoop? (please)
Baby, take a ride in my coupe, you make me wanna...
Shoop shoop ba-doop (Baby, hey)
Shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop ba-doop ba-doop
Shoop shoop ba-doop (Don't you know I wanna shoop, baby)
Shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop ba-doop ba-doop
Well let me bring you back to the subject, Pep's on the set
Make you get hot, make you work up a sweat
When you skip-to-my-lou, my darling
Not falling in love but I'm falling for your [super sperm]
When I get ya betcha bottom dollar you were best under pressure
[Yo, Sandy, I wanna like, taste you]
Getcha getcha lips wet cuz it's time to have Pep
On your mark, get set, go, let me go, let me shoop
To the next man in the three-piece suit
I spend all my dough, ray me, cutie
Shoop shoop a-doobie like Scoobie Doobie Doo
I love you in your big jeans, you give me nice dreams
You make me wanna scream, "Oooo, oooo, oooo!"
I like what ya do when you do what ya do
You make me wanna shoop
Shoop shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop ba-doop ba-doop
Shoop shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop ba-doop ba-doop
[Oh, my goodness, girl, look at him
He's the cutest brother in here
And he's comin' this way! Oooo!]
S and the P wanna kick with me, cool (uh-huh)
But I'm wicked, G, (yeah) hit skins but never quickly (that's right)
I hit the skins for the hell of it, just for the yell I get
Mmm mmm mmm, for the smell of it (smell it)
They want my bod, here's the hot rod (hot rod)
Twelve inches to a yard (damn) and have ya soundin' like a retard (yeah)
Big 'Twan Love-Her, six-two, wanna hit you
So what you wanna do?
What you wanna do?
Mmmm, I wanna shoop
Shoop shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop ba-doop ba-doop
Shoop shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop
Shoop ba-doop ba-doop ba-doop

New Card Game
So tonight I actually hung out with some of my friends. Suprise, right? haha. Anyhow...it was about 10pm and it was just me and my friend Bobby sitting at McAlister's. Some of our other friends had gone to see a movie. So we are sitting there and we decide to go on an adventure...but not just any adventure...a card game adventure.
We hopped in my car...no gps...no maps...no nothing. The only thing we had was a deck of cards and the soundtrack to Across the Universe. So we made up a card game. It goes as follows....
Black cards mean Right...Red cards mean Left. So if you drew a red you would know to turn left. If you drew a black you would then proceed to turn right. And so on and so forth. So how do you know WHEN to turn? Well the number on the first card minus the number of another card you drew. Unless the second card was higher then you would subtract the other card from the higher one. This would tell you how many exits (if you were on the interstate) or how many lights to go.
For example...say I drew a Red Jack...that would be left 11....then I would draw another card...say that card was a 5....then its 11 minus 5....so thats 6. I would know to turn left after the next 6 lights. The color of the second card drawn means nothing.
So those are the rules of our made up card traveling game....the funny thing is...it lead to some WEIRD crap.
First...we ended up on 65-N towards Nashville. We got off at Harding Pl. and had to immediately turn right. We ended up in some weird random neighborhood. Strange thing is...we got to a dead end so I pulled into a house to turn around and guess what!!!! It was a house that both me and Bobby had been at before!!! It was soooooo random and weird. I had gone there when I was on a ride along with a sheriff for my criminal justice class. The burglary alarm went off and so we went to that exact random house! Bobby had used that house to turn his car around in before. CREEPY EH???
Then we made a couple more turns and ended up on Franklin Pk. We are driving then 2 deer run across the road in front of us!!! Not in front of the car or anything. It seemed like they were putting on a show of some sort. So that creeped us out even more. Random houses...now random deer. The cards must have magical powers or something.
And so then we continue down towards Franklin Pk...and we see Nashville up ahead. We had gone the back roads to Nashville it seemed.
We make another more turns and end up in front of this random statue. I don't really think anything of it until Bobby yells out, "I know where we are! This is Gay St!"
I couldn't stop laughing for so long. Me and Bobby ended up on Gay St. HA! So then we drive some more, following the cards...and guess what we pass.
We passed Play (a gay club we had been talking about just an hour or so beforehand) we passed the Hustler store, we passed another club we had been talking about. It was crazy!!!!
Then we found the interstate and decided to head home but can you believe it. We had the weirdest night....
a. a house we both had been to before
b. crazy deer (and when we passed them a song on the cd said, Dear Prudence....Dear....Deer!!!! Get it)
c. Gay St.
d. Play and the Hustler Store
CRAZY NIGHT!!!!!!!!
p.s. I recommend this crazy card game to anyone. Great way to explore...and experience craziness.

Summer Daze
So its been forever since I wrote in my blog last. School was hectic. So many final projects, so little time. I found the weeks flying by in Savannah. Now I am back home in TN for the summer...its been one week....not even....and i am sooooooo ready to go back to the craziness.
You realize after you go away to college that things are never going to be the same. Sure you have your friends in high school and you see them when you go back for summer. But it is just different. Those friends have made new friends. You have made new friends. You have to decide if you are still the same person you used to be before college. If you can still fit in each others lives. It is a hard process that will take some time.
I miss my friends in Savannah. I really do. But I also realized something today. I am not the only one that had to leave Savannah. All my other college friends went back home too. I have this feeling that I left my friends behind in Savannah...but they really aren't there. The memory of them is there. But they physically are not. If I were to go back to Savannah to visit the one or two friends that stayed for summer session...it would be different.
My life is on hold until September 15.
I cannot make new friends here in Franklin...theres no point. Three months is all I have. It takes at least that long to develop a good relationship with someone.
I cannot relate to my friends like I used to in high school. They all went to the same college practically. They kept in contact with each other. I chose to go 500 miles away to college...and in doing so...i severed practically all ties with my high school friends.
I feel like I am just wasting these 3 months of my life on nothing. There are no projects to work on, no films to create, no friends to hang out with, no work really (if 15 hours a week counts). There is no reason for me to be in Savannah for these 3 months, and no reason for me to be in Franklin either. Where do I belong within these three months then?
Summers used to be so fun. Now they are a drag.

Bolex and Joy
So I know I haven't posted in awhile...not like anyone reads this anyhow...but I have been busy with soooo much stuff. I started a new film class. Instead of taking Intro to Video, I am now in Intro to Film. You might ask whats the difference...and its a big difference. We actually use film in this class. Not video tapes. We have to load it in the camera's in total darkness. We have to light meter everything and adjust the focus according to measurements. Its a whole lot of stuff that we have to do basically. So far its going good...a lot more stressful....but good.
So today we watched our first projects that we ever shot on the Bolex 16mm reflex (as shown below). The teacher said she thought I did a really good job with the narrative. Which I find funny because that's the thing I always have the most trouble with. The film was in focus most of the time and towards the end it was a little too dark. It was too drak because towards the end of my shoot it started to rain and so it was really cloudy.
The video would have been a lot better if we were allowed to edit it. Without the edit it was quite choppy...oh well. It was the first project, it is what is to be expected.
So yes...this is my fabulous life as you have missed it.

Phone Nightmare
So last friday I was at Sea Turtle Cinema's with my friend Courtney. We were going to see the Movie Definatly, Maybe at the cinema after enjoying a cheeseburger at Cheeburger Cheeburger. So after we ate we went upstairs to the cookie store. When we left the cookie store it was raining pretty hard and we had to walk down the stairs. We were kind of rushing to get out of the rain so knowing how clumsy I am I slipped and fell down like 5 stairs. And OWW.
But yeah thats not the worst part...I look at my phone that was in my back pocket and it was broken! That is the second phone that I have cracked the crystal in. GRRRRR....
So now my phone is cracked and I can't see the screen. And I am down like $300. Phones Suck. They need to be less breakable.

Flex Mad Cobra
So tonight I helped work on a senior thesis film called Flex Mad Cobra. When I got to the set I was suprised at how few people were there. The only two sets I have worked on have had a minimum of 25 at all times. I drive up and saw 5 people. 5! And ya know what. It actually moved faster and was a lot more fun than the huge people shoots. It was a pretty interesting experience all together. I can't wait for the senior film night where they show all the films in a showcase. I have worked on 3 this quarter and then a commercial.
I don't get the title though. It's hard to remember actually. I always wanna switch the words around. Oh well.
My filming of my groups project is next weekend. I am so anxious and at the same time so excited. I am more looking forward to getting to edit it in post production. I will have the help of another guy in my class, Zack, so it shouldn't be too bad. We can make it look pretty good i'm sure. Okay so this post isn't so interesting so I will stop talking now. Enjoy a picture of the cookie monster in the mean time.

Free Pancake Day
So today was free pancake day at ihop. My roommate Julie and our neighbor Courtney went there and got pancakes. They say they are free but they really make you donate money to some charity. Oh well. The pancakes were good. Of course I went there and wanted an omelette so I got one of those. I feel like a fat cow. Although technically cows aren't fat. They're just cows. So yeah....
And on the film front, today we went and saw the locations we would be filming our next short film in. We are using the St. John's Cathedral in Savannah, GA. A house of a SCAD student....and Forsyth Park I think. It should be interesting. Lets hope all goes well. Shooting begins the 22nd

Actors
Actors for student films are soooooooo hard to find. It's easy making a film around college aged students because then all your friends want to volunteer and be in a movie. But god forbid you try and make a film about adults. They are sooooo much harder to work with. Especially since they could all be my parents. It's just awkward bossing them around and calling them. I know I need to get over this and learn to work with them. But its weird! I just got out of high school where I couldn't boss anyone around. Now i'm suddenly in college and i'm supposed to be bossing people around that are like 45 and 50??? Thats why I wanna be an editor...not have to work with actors that either think they are too good for your movie, or they just don't understand the movie so they do a half ass job. Go film school. Teaching me how to disregard everything that society had taught me about my elders and seniority. Woot woot.
And to cheer me up from my woe is me spew I have included a picture of an actress I actually wouldn't mind working with and bossing around, ha.

Who wouldn't wanna work with Jodie though? She's a freaking goddess when it comes to film.

Wii
So today I went home to Tennessee. Turns out while I was gone my mother decided to get a Wii. When I got here...I started to play guitar hero. I played that for like 3 hours straight. Then took a break. Then played it some more. Its so addictive. But the great thing is that after I was done my mother comes in and wants to play tennis on it. So we spend an hour playing tennis, bowling, baseball, you name is on Wii. It really is bringing a new meaning to family game night. Its so fun to see your parents attempt to play Wii.
Charlotte
So i'm at the airport now and the flight's late. Of course it's late. It knew that I woke up at 7 am after like 4 and a half hours of sleep to get on the flight. Airports suck. Hopefully I won't be too delayed. It arrived a couple minutes after we were supposed to actually be boarding it. Now the airport people are talking behind me about all this special secret airplane stuff. I feel like I am headed to my doom. Airplanes scare me. Gah. Let's hope I get home okay.

PetSmart? Pet ABUSE!
So tonight my roomie was feeling down so after class we went to the petstore to look at the animals cause she likes them and all. We got there and I found the kittens for adoption. I went into their cage area and wow! It smelled sooooooo bad. I think PetSmart abuses their kittens. They keep them behind glass where no one can smell them. Then when you go in to look at them you smell their crap and you feel so bad for them that you just want to adopt them. How cruel are they that they cannot take 2 minutes to give them fresh litter and keep it air conditioned behind the glass. We ended up supporting them though by buying a hamster. Damn their cuteness.

Painting...

So I am working on this color theory project right now where I have to paint. Why does a film student need to paint? I can't understand this. Why must we know how to mix colors to see what colors you can get. I don't care if when you mix blue and green you get a tealish color. How is that relavant to my course of study??? Oh well.
Hockey or meeting...
So I have a film meeting tonight to discuss the script of our newest film and all that jazz....but its the same night as the Carolina and Nashville hockey game!!! I've been looking forward to this game for awhile. So should I skip the meeting and watch hockey? Leave the meeting early? Or what??? Tivo is not an option, ha.
